Learning at home again!

Good morning! Here are some activities to keep your little ones busy

5 currant buns in the bakers shop, round and fat with a cherry on the top,

Along came a boy / girl with a penny one day bought a currant bun and took it away!

  • Sing the currant bun song, using your fingers and 5 coins. Each time one is taken check how many fingers you need to show. https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/nursery-rhymes-five-currant-buns/zm4nmfr
  • Make your own pretend currant buns using saltdough. (1 cup salt, 1 cup flour, 1 cup water and cook slowly , 3 hours on a very low heat). Shape your salt dough into round shapes and when they are cooked you can paint them. Don’t forget a red cherry on the top!
  • Look at a selection of coins. Look for numbers on each one – which numbers can you see? Put the coins under a paper and with a wax crayon make a rubbing of the coins. Lift up your paper and see if you can match them up.
  • Let’s pretend! Make your own shop. It could be a toy shop. Put some price tickets onto your toys and ask your grown up or brothers and sisters to come and buy.

Heads, shoulders, knees and toes …and eyes and ears, a mouth, a nose,

Heads, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes.

Have fun!

Good morning!  5th June marks World Environment day 2020 so I would like to ask you to spend time talking with your child to think of all the small things we can all do to improve our environment:

  • recycle plastic, glass, cans and paper  - your child can help you sort it out
  • save water  - turn off the tap as you brush your teeth, catch the rainwater  to recycle when you water your garden
  • plant a pot of flowers to encourage bees and butterflies
  • always put your rubbish into a bin - don't drop litter!
  • walk a short journey instead of going in the car.

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe.

5 little  monkeys jumping on the bed, 1 fell off and bumped his head, Mummy phoned the doctor and the doctor said ‘No more monkeys jumping on the bed!’

  • Can you be a cheeky monkey? Use a paper plate or a circle of card to make yourself a monkey mask…but do not jump on your bed!
  • Watch this national geographic info clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6lmmAyvl3I and find out about monkeys with long noses and tails around the world. Draw a picture of your favourite monkey.
  • Sing the song to your grown up and remember each time one monkey falls off you need to show how many monkeys are left using your fingers or maybe you can try writing down the numbers. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p065rf72
  • Do you know the story Monkey puzzle by Julia Donaldson? Poor monkey has lost his Mum. You can watch it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GzMWFZPqw4

Row, row your boat, gently down the stream,

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily life is but a dream.

  • Sit opposite your adult and stretch to hold hands. Now say the rhyme together and rock as you row your boat!
  • Make your own boat using your recycling – pick a yogurt pot or tub , cut out a sail to attach with  a straw or lolly stick then try sailing it  - will it float?
  • Painting with water is so easy and good fun! Can you water paint a picture or your name?
  • Listen to Tee and Mo on cbeebies – are there ways you can save water or recycle it? Play their game at https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/games/tee-and-mo-our-little-world-game

I hope you have fun!
